Hanscom Field, Bedford, MA (BED)

Hanscom Field is a growing regional airport in the west metro area of Boston. It is the most convenient to Concord (8 miles), but served by very few airlines: US Air and Pan-Am. US Air connects to Hanscom via various cities, including Philadelphia, Chicago, Columbus, and Detroit. Pan-Am serves Hanscom from Cumberland, Hagerstown and Baltimore, MD; Atlantic City and Newark, NJ; White Plains, NY; Bangor, ME; Portsmouth, NH; and St. Petersburg, Orlando, Naples, and Miami, FL.

Fares to Bedford tend to be expensive, depending on your origin. US Air has very little presence in the western part of the country; for instance, they fly into neither Portland, OR, or Sacramento, CA, meaning that you need to fly a different airline to the Midwest, then transfer. This drives up the price considerably. However, flying into Bedford from an area served by US Air can sometimes mean savings over Logan.

Car rental agencies are at Hanscom and taxis are plentiful. The fare should run around $10.
